West Kirby

West Kirby is a traditional seaside resort with a Marine Lake, promenade, parks and elegant shopping parades. It's a starting point for walks across the sands to the Hilbre Islands Local Nature Reserve.

Wirral Country Park includes the former West Kirby to Hooton railway woodlands rich with wildlife and low cliffs near to Thurstaston Visitor Centre, grassy headlands rising above the miles of fine sands along the Dee Estuary.

The views across to the Clwydian Mountains are superb

Like Hoylake, part of the charm of West Kirby is that it is not dominated totally by national retail brands like so many modern towns in the UK. Both areas and the neighbouring town of Meols retain a local flavour while still managing to offer all the amenities required by the modern visitor

West Kirby in summer, is alive and vibrant with tourists and locals alike, who take pleasure in enjoying the sunny climate of the resort in the rain shadow of the Welsh hills. West Kirby has plenty to offer to all, with a host of speciality shops, pubs, bistros, bars restaurants and services. Stroll along the magnificent promenade with it's famous Marine Lake,a playground for wind surfers from all over the country. The views of the estuary and Hilbre island will take your breath away, so sit a while and take it all in.

At the end of the prom, turn left into Banks Road where the shopping centre begins. Take your time, as there is a splendid array of shops, many of them tucked away beneath the arcades. Further on you will come to the station and the concourse where there are further shops and businesses tucked away in a host of nooks and crannies. The merseyrail station provides easy access through to Liverpool and Chester.

Ashton Park is a short walk from the town centre and can also be accessed from the Wirral Way. It's a starting point for walks across the sands to the Hilbre Islands Local Nature Reserve. Wirral Country Park includes the former West Kirby to Hooton railway, woodlands rich with wildlife and low cliffs near to Thurstaston Visitor Centre, grassy headlands rising above the miles of fine sands along the Dee Estuary.
